This 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS hardtop coupe was modified with installation of a rebuilt 460ci big-block V8 paired with a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with a 3.31:1 Positraction differential. The frame was also replaced, and the suspension was modified with tubular control arms, Bilstein shocks, coil springs, and sway bars. Finished in blue with a black vinyl top over blue vinyl upholstery, the car also features body-color 15″ steel wheels, hubcaps, front disc brakes, power steering, a Brawler Street 750-cfm carburetor, HEI electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, Hooker headers, Flowmaster mufflers, Super Sport bucket seats, a center console, and a RetroSound stereo.
Painted by the factory in Marina Blue with a black vinyl roof covering (F-2), the car was refinished under previous ownership. replacement frame from South Carolina and had it powdercoated before mounting the body on new rubber bushings in late 2019. Details include chrome bumpers, bright trim, and dual side mirrors as well as Super Sport, 427, and crossed-flag badging. Dual exhaust outlets terminate just behind each rear tire. Blemishes in the paint, and corrosion is noted under the rocker panels and on the hood.
Blue-finished 15″ steel wheels measuring 8″ wide were replaced under previous ownership and are wrapped in 245/60 Milestar Streetsteel tires. The suspension was overhauled with tubular front control arms, Moog ball joints, Global West Suspension S-87 front coil springs, Moog CC609 rear coil springs, a 1 1/8″ front sway bar, a 7/8″ rear sway bar, and Bilstein front and rear shocks. The braking system utilizes C3 Corvette–sourced front discs with Timken bearings and hubs that were fitted in 2019 along with a dual master cylinder and replacement hard and soft lines; the rear drum brakes were rebuilt in 2023. The steering has been modified with a 1967–1970-style center link, an “Ackermann fix,” idler and pitman arms, a three-turn steering box, and a replacement power-steering pump and hoses.
The cabin houses front bucket seats, a rear bench, and door panels that are trimmed in blue vinyl. Equipment includes front and rear lap belts, a heater, a center console, a RetroSound stereo, and an amplifier.
A two-spoke steering wheel with a partial horn ring fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel-level gauge. An analog clock is among a quartet of instruments positioned ahead of the shifter that also monitor battery status, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under previous ownership; true mileage is unknown.
